Today, we’re reprinting two blogs with permission from the Kentucky Center of Economic Policy (KCEP). Appalachian Health Hack-A-Thon

SOAR and MIT are partnering up to host the FIRST ever Hack-A-Thon in Kentuckty. A Hack-A-Thon is an event that focuses on action oriented solutions to age-old problems that harnesses broadband, entrepreneurship and innovation in Health Care. Participants: Want to be part of the Solution? We are looking for motivated, action oriented individuals that are enthusiastic about the future and health of Kentucky. These individuals will work together work through real world issues and problems and develop technological and broadband infused solutions that will work for the region! We are currently accepting applications today. Participant Application: conta.cc/29VZTmr Deadline for Applications are Septemeber 10th. Mentors: Help groups bring thier ideas to life! We need a mix of engineers, healthcare professionals, and business experts, among others. Mentors are a critical resource for the success of a Hackathon. A good mentor is engaging and helpful, avoids tearing down teams ideas in a destructive way, and instead directs conversations in a constructive way, building upon what has already been done by the group.
