Ivy Brashear
Ivy Brashear is a native of Viper, Ky. and a fifth-generation Perry Countian, whose family has lived on the Left Fork of Maces Creek since before the Civil War. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Journalism and Appalachian Studies, and is currently completing her Master’s degree in Community and Leadership Development at the University of Kentucky. She has worked with or for the Kentucky Riverkeeper, Kentucky River Watershed Watch, the STAY Project, Appalachian Media Institute and Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. She's been a reporter at the Times Tribune in Corbin, Ky., the Hazard Herald in Hazard, Ky., the Rural Blog at the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues. She currently works as the Communications Associate for the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development.
