Economic development professionals: Please save the date! Wednesday June 1st, 2011.
Investing in the Future: How local can we go in growing Eastern Kentucky’s economy?
We are excited to announce the Growing Local Economies Network (GLEN) will be meeting June 1st at the Regional Technology Center in West Liberty KY (formerly the Morehead State Innovation Center) from 10:00am till 3:00pm and we ask you to save the date.
GLEN is a network of economic development professionals serving Appalachian Kentucky seeking to increase collaboration, improve our practice, and learn from each other.
This year’s event will feature an expert panel on local finance with Ray Daffner & Michael Shuman:
Ray Daffner, Entrepreneurship Initiative Manager at The Appalachian Regional Commission in DC, leads the ARC Appalachian Capital Policy Initiative.
Michael Shuman, author of The Small-Mart Revolution, Director of Economic Development & Research for the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) and Director of Research for Cutting Edge Capital, is writing a new book on community capital.
A lively GLEN discussion will be seeded by regional economic development discussants who will reflect on what the panel’s ideas mean for our work in eastern Kentucky.
There will also be creative ways to share your work and plan for collaboration: display tables, pecha kucha session, mini open space discussion and a networking lunch.
Please mark your calendars and look out for the registration details and full agenda coming soon…
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me.
